POWERINGCITIZENS The Hague Energy Cafe.
We organized an energy café for a group of participants on a Saturday. The audience was very interested in the topic because in the Netherlands we have high costs for energy due to the war in Ukraine and the closure of the earth gas fields in the North of the Netherlands. Next to that we have a lot of house owners that rent their houses, but they hardly invest in making the houses more sustainable for the renters. People with low income have high energy costs because they live in poor isolated houses. Especially during winter times their costs for heating of their houses is high. During the energy café we discussed how costs for energy can be reduced. In the Hague we have energy coaches that can help people by giving tips about how to get subsidizing for isolation, change of behavior and how to save energy in your house. At the end of the session people were more motivated to reach out for energy coaches for helping them out with energy cost saving.
